To whoever is reading this,
There are ten thousand software shops out there. Every one of them says it's passionate, agile and obsessed with its customers. I'm not going to waste your time with that.
In Spanish, meta means goal. In 2009 I wrote down three of them and named the company after them. Seventeen years later they're still the only scorecard we use:
- 01Build a company people actually want to show up toA place where they come to create and build because they want to, not because they have to.
- 02Be the advisor our customers can trust at every levelThe code, the business, and the 2 a.m. call when something is on fire.
- 03Be happy.(it's in the business plan. really.)
Here's the line we don't cross: we only build what we honestly believe will make our customers' lives better, their business and their personal lives. Life is too short to build stuff nobody needs. If we don't believe in your project, we'll tell you, and we'll pass on the money.
We try to run the company by the Eightfold Path: right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood. It's harder than it sounds in business. We get it wrong sometimes, and we keep at it.
A little about me, so you know who you'd be dealing with. I'm a software architect and a dad. I've crossed the finish line of an Ironman or a 70.3 nine times, I run marathons and ultras, and I climb rocks when I should probably be resting. Endurance teaches you that anyone can start. The race gets decided in the last third, when you're tired and it hurts. Software works the same way. Anyone can ship a demo. We're the ones still there three years later, making it work.
If that sounds like your kind of people, come say hi.
